The Green Muse

The taut skin
Strings quiver
A whine evaporates into the cloud
She laughs, snapping snapping
Skip across the concrete
Slide into art
Slapping you in the face
Like a challenge
Eyes exposed
She sighs in French
Sips her coffee
And squints at you politely

It burns
A single note
The bubbling water
Stars shooting by
The air invades me
Bursts my lungs into dust
I am free
The grass underneath my feet
Cool
I collapse into pools of fear
Cleansing the dazzle from my skin
Simple. Unadulterated self.
The flame pulsates
Protected from the elements
Radiate through the prism
Creating a river of possibility
I am clean

Let it dance

The chaos

Let it sing

Its polyphonic blast

Awkward to the ear

Swirl in the glass

And swim in the goblet, drunken

It will go down

This feeling

It will wash away

As the laughter comes out

The kisses land

And we reach the summit

Together

I captured it

While you weren’t looking

See, I have it here in my palm

The melody rises through

The cacophony of their lust

Jealous with its sneer

I will not succumb

As the colors bleed into your canvas

Purple, violent

With its audacity

Dizzy with the golden neck

Of desperation

They gape as I

Giggle into oblivion

The Crucifixion

Why do I wear you –

Arrogant – still gold,

Solid on my skin

Echoes of emotion,

Salvation and faith,

Teasing with warmth,

Your outstretched hands

Indifferent.

Tantalus was lucky

Compared to this cruel tragedy

Of a covenant denied

From your cowardly

Stubborn self-restraint

And bravelessly blind escape.

I reject your rules!

Refuse to live life

In resignation, repression.

I will not succumb

To the stony fear

Behind your eyes

I will not forsake

The face of Venus

For your selfish

Trinity of I.

So I leave you now

Passive on your cross,

Bound with ropes of

Indecision

Pierced by nails of

Independence.

Now I will liberate

Myself from this cross,

Step down to allow

The thorns of vitality

The sword of possibility

To tear my flesh.

I will suffer the pain

Of vulnerability

When my blood and water –

My humble offertory –

Nourish the black Earth

In exchange for the gift –

Her mantle of winter roses and promise

For the resurrection of passion and love.

On the precipice

Licking wounds imagined

Pulsating heart

Shortened breath

My skirts flicker in the wind

Enters the cold of fear

“JUMP!”

Startled by the sound of the gods

I turn

And find the white clouds gathering

Around me

My heart continues its violence

And I smile

I must – I will

Born to this

Action –

This destiny –

I was brushed

With light and promise

And yet…

Turn around.

Walk away.

Take out the extra –

Become

The Ordinary.

Live to be old.

And Average.

Save yourself.

Now.

The gods frown at

My cowardly thoughts of

Seeming self-preservation

I gather my skirts –

This life never belonged to me –

I leap forward

Into the winds and clouds

Through the rays of sun

That warm my skin.

As I plummet

To my destiny

I am finally flooded

With peace.

In the space of heat and light

Of stars and dreams

There exists a small house

Of trees and time

Where life penetrates

The shadows chaos

Of blue crystal

Red jewels

And hurried attendants

To Money and Lust

A house of gentle curves

And velvet screens

Bringing serenity to the center

Breathing wood in the

Dimness of comfort

And finally home.
